"Dementia Joy"

Families, caregivers and long-term care professionals underestimate the abilities of individuals in mid-stage and late-stage dementia.  Many feel that the ability to remain continent, dress and feed themselves and engage in leisure and recreational skills is no longer possible.  This course will provide a practical approach to dementia with practical examples of how to maintain these skills, deal with problem behaviors, and challenge these people to live a full life...One filled with joy!

Course Director:  Lanny D. Butler MS, OTR/L, CDP, CPAM                                           
 Lanny received his undergraduate degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of North Dakota, and his advanced degree from the University of Puget Sound, in Tacoma, Washington.  He has worked as an educator, consultant, and therapist for over 41 years: the past 25 years have been dedicated to serving the elderly.  He researched and developed a practical approach to caring for individuals with dementia called Dementia Possible Care©.  He is the founder, and President of IATB Dementia Care LLC. a consulting group on Dementia Possible Care giving.
